Making Punched Birds and Keeping Scrissors Clean!!!

Yesterday I got a little bored and starting playing around with my "Bird Punch" from Stampin' UP. I miss seeing the spring and summer birds so I pulled out some paper and starting punching. Came up with a few of my favorites. I hope you can tell what they are.

I don't have a card set-up for these yet. I'm thinking of maybe using these on some Christmas Tags... Just wanted to show how versatile this punch is. If you remember I did a "Pointsetta" card with this punch that was just awesome. And I used the 5point flower punch also from SU to make my little pointsetta there.

Yesterday -I also cleaned all my craft scrissors!!! Have to cut with clean scrissors. So I just use odorless Mineral Spirits and cotton ball and then wipe off the sticky stuff and dry with wet paper towel. Hope you keep your scissors clean also. Helps give clean cuts.....Geez, can you tell I'm a little bored and brain-locked.
I'm sitting here today making a few more exploding photo boxes for gifts and trying to figure out a card I'm working on. I should be cleaning my office, getting it ready for a new little table to stamp on and craft and paint on. But no, I'm playing.
So thanks for stopping by and I hope you make some birds also. And when you do upload them and let me see which ones are your favorite. Have a marvelous day-Joyce

First Project: Exploding Photo/Gift Box

Today we got a little snow early this morning. So I settled down in my Craft room early. I had this idea in my head. My friend made one of these but did hers different. Here is my version:

Wasn't sure which way this was going so I designed as I went :)

This is a 12 X 12 piece of Basic Black Card stock. Scored @ 4", 8" then turned and repeat. You end up with 9 squares.

This is what the inside looks like. Take a  12 X 12 piece of Designer Paper and cut into 9 pieces each 3 3/4 square. Then adhere these pieces to the
Card stock. This is where you add your "Photos" .

You flip over your Card stock and cut 9 more pieces of 3 3/4 Designer paper for your outside look. After I adhered the pieces I punched some side pieces and added some pearls and bling.  This view shows the Lid sitting so you can see. Cut one more piece of Designer paper 3 3/4 for the top of the box. Decorate this however you wish. I'm using mine for Christmas. I'm also putting a gift in the middle.

Here is how I finished my lib. 8 X 8 piece of Card stock, Scored at 2" on Fiskars Cutter on all sides.  I used the Scallop border punch and did the trim work. Then cut and adhered 4pcs. of 1/2 x 3 3/4 pieces of Designer paper to go around box lid.  You can see this in first Photo. I made a satin bow, added a fat pearl. Used a couple of tag punches to make the sentiment on the lid.

I used "Tags till Christmas" stamp set w/clear blocks to stamp the side pieces and tag.

After your all done you add your photos inside and close it up and put on the lid.....

Supplies Used:
-12 x12 Basic Black Card stock, Cherry Cobbler and "Deck the Halls" Designer Paper.
-Punches: Decorative Label, Small Oval, Small and Large Tag Punches, Scalloped Edge Punch, Dotted Scallop ribbon border punch.
-Pearls/Black Satin Ribbon
-Ink: Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink
All products used are from Stampin' Up.

Welcome to my new Craft Blog-Who I am

Welcome to my Craft Blog. I enjoy making Cards and Crafts of all kinds. Just depends what mood I'm in that day or month :)

Here I am in Craft Central.  Yes, my room is organized but right now got lots of projects going at the same time :) I converted my daughter's Bedroom into an Office/ Plant room/Den/ Giant Dog bed/Craftroom/relaxing area just for me. I'm getting ready to add a little table so when my friend s come over we can stamp in here together.

I'm working on Card Projects for the holidays now. Come spring I'll be outside in my Gardens.I also have a gardening Blog http://www.oneplantatatime.blogspot.com/  But when the Gardens go to Sleep I'm inside creating Pretty Cards and Crafts of all kinds.

I also paint on  Rocks , Birdhouses/Gourds and whatever else I come up with.  I'm working on some "Seaglass" wind chimes for gifts and for my garden. I also press flowers from my gardens and make bookmarks and small pictures. I have so many things I love to do. Sometimes I put too much on my plate.
BUT I really enjoy making things and giving things as gifts. I love to watch the expression on people faces when they say "Did you make that". What a nice feeling on the inside.

So thanks for staying this long and reading all about me. I will post some photos of my work with details.
So come back often  and I will show you my work. Comments are always welcome because you give me ideas.

Signing Off for now...Joyce
